Midlands TUC Pensioners Network Training Day.
The training day was held at the Unite Office in Leicester on January 19th, it was attended by 18 members, the tutor was Alan Weaver from the Midlands TUC who stresed the need to develop communications 0ver which we have control and will thus be able if organised properly to give value. The issues that it was agreed that we would cover are "UK Pensions", "UK Public service cuts", "UK care in the community", "UK concessionary travel"
The Rights in Retirement -we should be campaigning to draw attention to the serious and detrimental impact that the Coalition Government's austerity proposals are having on the quality of life in retirement.

The Dilnot Report calls for a cap of £35,000 on the amount am individual would have to pay for their own care cost. People will still have to pay for accommodation and food in a care nome.but this will be capped at £1o,000 a year.
ReplyDeleteThe commisssion is calling for a big increase in the threshold of savings where the state offers no help. this limit should rise from £23.250 to £1000,000.
One option the commission could consider is the full integration of health and social care free for all at the point of use.
